Fernwood Coffee Company joins hero search

November 4th, 2009

Message of hope

We at Fernwood Coffee Company believe in supporting concrete local initiatives. We like to think of ourselves as community leaders, doing what we can. Recently we helped out with an extreme home makeover of Casa Maria Emergency Housing Society.

This society has helped over two hundred families in crisis over the past eighteen years, without government funding. But after eighteen years and two hundred families the place needed a makeover.

Organized by a local non-profit, Hero Search, the event was recorded for a video due out in the coming months.

4th Place in Canada

October 17th, 2009

Well, after a crazy few days the dust has finally settled. Rob finished 4th in Canada, (I think it’s the highest placing ever from Vancouver Island,) with a score of 601. For a first time competitor this is huge. All I can say is watch out next year.

We would really like to thank all the people who helped. Seth, Brette, Tiffany, Sam and the rest of 2%, Ken, Logan, Anya, Matt Milletto, Sam Pervis and the rest of the Portland peeps, all the judges, Bridgehead Cafe in Ottawa for the last second grinder swap, Reg Barber, Les Quan, Ben Brown, Danny and the rest of ECM, Terra, Lisa and Cara and anyone else who I may have missed. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Pictures coming soon!!
